Alfonso is an elderly farmer who returns home after 17 years, prompted by his son's serious illness. Upon his arrival, he discovers that everything he once knew has vanished, and his family is on the brink of displacement due to an invisible threat lurking in the vast sugarcane fields, leaving behind destruction and death.
