In Coscuez, a secluded town in Boyacá – Colombia, María, a guaquera who survived the recent war waged by emerald tycoons, lives amidst profound grief for her late husband and the struggle to uphold miners' rights against the exploitation of ruthless multinational corporations. Trapped in melancholy and hoping to discover an emerald that could transform her life, she passes away at the age of fifty-six, giving rise to Luzmila, her ghost.
